Ms. Roeseler Named 2017 Region 3 Outstanding Support Employee!
Three other Riverside ES staff members recognized at FCPS Honors
Congratulations to office assistant Gertrud Roeseler who was recognized at the annual FCPS Honors event as the 2017 Region 3 Outstanding Support Employee and one of five finalists for this year's Outstanding Support Employee Award.
For Veterans Day last November, Ms. Roeseler recorded video snippets with local military about what it was like to be a veteran in the present. Students were “entranced.” “They could see their parents and loved ones in the video, figuratively if not literally,” said a teacher. The video had kids rushing to the library to find other sources and maps about recent wars. It was an example of what colleagues say is one of Ms. Roeseler's top skills: finding ways to use existing materials to promote learning—without additional funds. Since coming to Riverside, Ms. Roeseler has also beefed up use of technology by primary students in the media center and earned high marks for her adaptability and good nature. ”She can switch roles on a dime and is able to work with anyone on anything at any time,” said a colleague.
Congratulations to all the Riverside Elementary School staff members recognized FCPS Honors.
